Description:
A 4.2-mile natural trail along the beach, and near the forest, leads from Cahuita to Puerto Vargas, and then beyond Cahuita Point to many secluded beaches for snorkelling or to simply be alone.
During this walk, hikers will definitely want to make frequent stops for a swim in the warm Caribbean waters, to gape at the Howler Monkeys in the treetops high overhead, or to focus their binoculars on a Green Ibis, or the Rufous Kingfisher.
Snorkellers, can apply their skills near Cahuita Point. In these waters, scientists have counted 35 species of coral including: elk horn, brain coral, and Venus sea fan, as well as 123 species of tropical fish.
