The original house was built in 1910 by a wealthy Spanish emigrant coffee baron, Cipriano Herrero del Peral. The house was constructed using imported materials from Europe and under the direction of architect Jaime Carranza, one of the best-known and prestigious architects around the turn of the century. In 1992, the idea rose to transform the house into a unique hotel due to both its architectural beauty and the historical value of the house named a National Landmark by the Minister of Culture.
